Surprising!

I will be honest: I came for the medals. At first glance I thought "Meh... Yet another simple game with medals and a highscore. Let's get this over with..."
Then I read the help... and smiled. I played... and now EVERY SINGLE ONE of my fingers hurts! :D
But it was awesome! Really awesome! I rarely encounter a game that's so much fun and I wish I could find better words to describe it.

You just have to play it!

thinking-man responds:

This is one of the best reviews I have ever gotten EVER!

Interesting...

Okay, the title (atm: "Crack Sim Date") is a little misleading; the graphic is crude and the story childish.
But: It's funny and I enjoyed playing it.

Add a smooth background-loop from the audio-portal (don't forget the mute-button), use an actual font instead of painting your text, make the story-development less random (just a little), practice drawing some more and you could be on the Newgrounds-frontpage.

canarycharm responds:

I'm still learning flash and I don't know how to put in sound yet. But thank you for the review either way.

looses its appeal very fast right now, but...

I think I can appreciate some mindless violence against pixilated bunnies. With a highscore, different levels and bunnies that bite back it could be a nice if not even awesome game.
You've made a fine first step and I honestly think it would be a shame if this would stay discontinued.

(Bunnies you have to slice multiple times, bunnies that rapidly multiply once reaching each other, an upgrade-shop, 'magnetize bunny'-items, 'slow motion'-items, achievements for extraordinary huge body-counts with a single slash... Think about it. That stuff would write itself.) ;)

Mediocre

Your game is okay for a skill-game, but not very interesting. After a few levels I simply lost interest and looked for bugs.
And found one: A player could cheat your game fairly easy by clicking right.

That being said, I find it rather difficult to hit your "Next"-buttons, because you have to hit the text. I prefer buttons with a background.
Also you shouldn't use green and red. I'm not colorblind myself, but I can imagine it might be rather offsetting for someone who is. ("Stupid game: everything is red in red...")
Background-music and clean lines might be a good idea, too.

Brizzel987 responds:

You said this: "Also you shouldn't use green and red. I'm not colorblind myself, but I can imagine it might be rather offsetting for someone who is. ("Stupid game: everything is red in red...")"

My older brother is colorblind and he has no trouble whatsoever with this game. He's actually rather good.

Effort...

You know what effort is, right? For example I can already tell that you didn't spend any effort in designing your game - or otherwise you would have spend some effort on the actual TITLE.

Clock Day is not just a day where lazy guys can submit their half-assed work, so it wouldn't get blammed...

On the other hand I saved some time: Since I didn't had to play your game to tell it was bad, I had the time to write this review.

Happy Clock Day!

hugenuts responds:

I've never touched flash but I'm gonna talk like I have!

Signed,

Another idiot

great result for a practice-game

I don't know how long I played, but it's a hot day and after 300,k points I felt rather dehydrated. Imagine my surprise when I finally realized: No pause-button.
In an endless game like this, pause- and mute-buttons are more than just a good idea.
The top 3 players really deserve the honour. You ladies and gentlemen are made of steel!

There is, however, a little glitch: Sometimes you are set back to the platform you just fell from, when you try to move into the direction you've just come from, while falling.
Also you can jump in midair. It just freezes you on the spot for around half a second. It doesn't really affect the gameplay, I just came to notice it.

Despite the fact that it's a really simple game and very repetitive, it became addicting rather quick and I had fun playing it. And in the end, that's what games are all about.

First some ranting...
The Pause-button is a sadistic joke. You have to click a field that appears to offer you to pause the game and totally unexpected: you have to navigate a sub-menu while the game continues merciless. To make matters worse I had to look for it once I needed it. I would have expected space or the P-key would have done the trick...
The grey "-"-ball isn't mentioned in the instructions. My guess was he would be bad, so I blocked it. What does it do, exactly?
The darkened screens when a new level begins, as well as explosions block your vision while the game continues and add some new challenges by that. I'm not sure if it is intended that way. A short pause of a second while these things happen would seem appropriate.
Until now I have no idea in what manner the laser is charged. I fired it 2 times during my first run after it reached "devastating" and got a beam for 2 or 3 seconds. When I reached the final level in my second run I had to fire it again and the result was a very thin line that lasted only for the blink of an eye - despite the fact it was still "Devastating". I would really appreciate it if the instructions told how this damned thing works. In addition it could use a hotkey.
Also, there seems to be a glitch that lets a white "+"-balls disappear when they reach the middle of the right side. It happens 3 times or more each minute and is pretty perplexing.
M-key for mute would be nice, too.

I managed to get all medals by completing all levels twice and committed suicide. This took quite a while and when I finally wanted to submit my score the button did exactly nothing. I've encountered this problem various times before and it is quite common: I would have to whitelist some unknown third-party domain. Maybe I want to do so, maybe I won't - but it would be really nice to know about which domain to whitelist beforehand.

Although there can be done much to improve your game it is a nice timekiller and I had a good time playing it, once I got the hang out of it.

Oh, and for the medal-hunters: The highest number of lifes you can have is 25 and the highest rank is 10.

I harbor prejudices...

In short: Your game is boring. Actually it's barely a game and since you can beat it with a uncoordinated combination of tab and space there is no challenge.

One other thing bugs me: Authors stating that it's their "first game" in the vain hope newgrounders would pity them or something and give them a higher vote are pathetic. It simply won't happen. You just submitted a bad game and you know it. Either you wait until you produce something good before you submit again or you learn to live with bad reviews and lots of blams...

Bad concept in the first place...

Sorry, but I'm afraid it was a bad concept in the first place. I played it once to try it and once for review reasons, but I can't imagine playing it ever again.

Just in case it get's blamed again you should think of a whole new game, because this one is no fun to play.

No more PMs or comments from me for a while.
