What is this about?

This will be the first in a series of index posts that aim to help others navigate what I write for more regular reference as opposed to the one-off ventures into variety blogging I mention above. Just like my various playlists, this series of posts will look like a large, multi-tiered mobile, once I'm done. (The kinetic sculpture; not the wireless phone.)

One fateful day I thought: "You know what? The world sucks, people suck, and I have no patience left for all the "real" projects I was originally planning to do. This might as well be my last post on NG, so let's leave people with something timeless and useful. A spoiler free Top 13 for the anime series in 2024 aught to do the trick."

Western Animation-Opinions

"Them European animés..." ;)

I usually cover western animation (as in "animation from the Western Hemisphere") as more of a side-dish on articles covering recent anime releases. While series, movies, one-shots and specials do come out frequently, for me they are usually more a case of "Oh, this looks 'decent'. If I had 12 more hours per day I might get around to watching those at 'some' point..."

I would like to point out that part of this is due to me being an adult with a very developed palate when it comes to animation and movies. The last movie that I watched and thought was "good" was The Outfit (2022), but I think the movie industry allowed that one to be good by accident. The last good movie I watched before that was The Spy Gone North (2018). What I'm saying is: If you are very much into western animation, you will likely be able to find recommendations for very watchable series that will be worth your time. But I will not cover enough of those to fill your evenings with western animation by any stretch of the imagination. I'm happy if you enjoy those short articles of mine, but I would strongly recommend that you should look for another source.

I write "predicted", because of the various man-made catastrophes that could get in the way of my scheduling. Despite how it might appear to some, my time for NG is actually limited and I cannot just magically make long, comprehensible articles appear. Except for that one time, I hold myself to the same standards I would expect from others.
